Influencer Spotlight: Denise Sheets

We’re thrilled to shine this Influencer Spotlight on Denise Sheets, a woman whose journey through hair loss has transformed into a powerful mission of advocacy, community, and unapologetic confidence. From her early struggles with Androgenic Alopecia to becoming a beacon of hope for women everywhere, Denise’s story is one of resilience, discovery, and the freedom that comes from finding the right hair solution. Let’s get to know her!
Life Beyond Hair Loss
Between raising a blended family of four and recently sending her youngest off to join the Marines, Denise is embracing a new chapter of life. Now approaching 55, she’s found renewed energy after both knee replacements and is enjoying more time with her husband, two dogs, and 20 chickens.
“Our youngest just flew the nest to join the Marines and so we are officially empty nesters!” Denise said. “I love to hang out with my husband, and ever since I got both my knees replaced in the past year actually love working out and going for walks again!”
Navigating Decades of Hair Loss
Denise’s hair loss journey began quietly in her 20s before intensifying after the birth of her first son in 1999. She was later diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia, a diagnosis that marked the beginning of a decades-long emotional struggle.
“I feel like I stopped living a little bit the worse my hair loss got,” Denise said. “I stopped doing a lot of things, worried constantly about my hair, and even stopped taking care of my physical health a little bit as I felt unworthy due to my hair loss.”

Finding Community and a Turning Point
For years, Denise relied on hair fibers to manage her thinning hair, but everything changed in 2018 when she discovered the wig community online.
“When I discovered the wig wearing community on Facebook and YouTube in 2018, my whole world shifted because I finally saw other women who looked like me, but had stopped letting their hair loss define them,” Denise said. “I finally had hope!”
That discovery didn’t just introduce her to wigs — it gave her a sense of belonging she hadn’t found elsewhere.
“My family was always a huge support and never made me feel bad about my hair loss, and then when I discovered the wig-wearing community I knew I had found my people, and started looking forward instead of backward,” Denise said.
Discovering Wigs and Reclaiming Her Life
Once Denise tried her first wig, she knew it had the potential to change everything.
“I remember realizing that I just may be able to find a solution that will remove all the fear that my progressive hair loss had brought into my life,” Denise said.
The impact has stayed with her ever since.
“It has truly changed EVERYTHING… not to be overly dramatic, but my hair loss was devastating, and wigs have given me my life back,” Denise said. “I no longer hide and turn down invitations to do things because of my hair, which is HUGE.”
Discovering Paula Young

Denise has known about Paula Young for years, long before she began sharing her own wig journey online.
“I’ve known about Paula Young for many years, when I first started sharing my wig journey online I had people reaching out asking my opinion of [Paula Young] wigs and found a huge following online!” Denise said.
What keeps her coming back is the brand’s commitment to affordability without sacrificing quality.
“I love that you offer wigs for all style preferences at an affordable price,” Denise said.
Among her favorites are two standout styles.
“Well, until I was able to try Starlette I would have said Becky because of her curls and cap construction,” Denise said. “The fact that she is affordable is a huge bonus!!”
For a woman who loves to switch up her look often, that affordability has made all the difference.
“I love to change out my hair style and color regularly, and that can be expensive at times, so being able to find great wigs at more affordable prices allows me to live out my hair dreams more easily,” Denise said.
Advice for Others on the Journey
Denise is passionate about helping other women avoid the isolation she once felt, starting with finding the right community.
“The best place for women to be who are struggling with hair loss are some of the wig support groups on Facebook, hands down,” Denise said. “Being with women who understand the struggle, even if only virtually, has been a game changer for me and MANY others.”
She’s also candid about the realities of adjusting to wigs, something she wishes she’d understood sooner.
“Reviewers can make it look so easy, but the reality is that we are seeing them AFTER they’ve gotten through the hard part,” Denise said. “Wigs often take some work and personalization to really feel like you.”
Above all, Denise hopes her story reminds other women that they’re never alone in this struggle.
“I hope that they see that they are not alone, and that even those of us who are having a BLAST with wigs struggled in the beginning,” Denise said.
Denise’s openness about both the hardships and joys of her hair loss journey continues to resonate with women navigating similar paths — a reminder that confidence often starts with finding the courage to share your story.
